SPRING SUMMER 2016

AS A STARTING POINT, DESIGNER ALEJANDRA ALONSO WAS DRAWN TO THE BEGINNINGS OF HER BRAND RESEARCH. SHE RETURNED AND WAS NEWLY INSPIRED BY THE TYPOGRAPHY AND ICONOGRAPHY OF THE BAUHAUS.  LIKE HER LOGO, THE FALL 2016 COLLECTION DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM THE "CIRCLE - SQUARE AND TRIANGLE."  GEOMETRY IN ITS PRIMARY FORM.  DESIGN EFFORTLESS AND PLAYFUL. ACTIVATED BY TIME - SPACE - MOTION.  INFORMED BY COSTUMES OF THIS PERIOD.  BEAUTIFULLY REINTERPRETED INTO THE PERSONAL LANGUAGE OF AMOI.  BROUGHT TO LIFE THROUGH THE USE OF LUXURIOUS AND INNOVATIVE MATERIALS AND YARNS WITH HAND SKILLED TECHNIQUES THAT WARM THE WEARER AND THE SOUL.

THE RHYTHM OF FALL BEATS FRESH, FLOWING AND MODERN.

SPRING SUMMER 2016

THE À MOI SPRING/SUMMER 2016 COLLECTION, TITLED “RETROGRADE,” IS INSPIRED BY THE PLANET MERCURY AND ITS DYNAMIC MOVEMENTS. DESIGNER ALEJANDRA ALONSO ROJAS CONNECTED THE PLANET’S CAPTIVATING PHYSICAL PROPERTIES WITH THE LITTLE PRINCE, ONE OF HER FAVORITE CHILDHOOD BOOKS. ROJAS IMAGINED MERCURY AS THE HOME OF THE TITLE CHARACTER, AND ENVISIONED A COLLECTION WHICH WOULD TELL THE STORY OF THE PRINCE’S INTERGALACTIC JOURNEY.

THE COLLECTION IS IMBUED WITH A LIGHTHEARTED, UPLIFTING AND INVENTIVE SPIRIT. ROJAS IMAGINED THE BRIGHT COLORS OF SPACE, AS SEEN THROUGH THE LENS OF A CHILD’S PERSPECTIVE, CREATING A KALEIDOSCOPIC PALETTE OF BLUES, YELLOWS AND PINKS, BALANCED WITH BLACK, NUDE, AND PURE WHITE. ROJAS’ ALSO EXPERIMENTED WITH LAYERED TRANSPARENT FABRICS AND DEGRADATION.

FALL WINTER 2015

This season, À MOI designer Alejandra Alonso was thinking about diversity and the sensory experience of taste, scent and sight for her new collection.  As summer fades into fall, the À MOI woman sets out on a culinary journey away from the city. Friends and family meet for a weekend rendez-vous of cooking and dining together.  They converge in the kitchen where flavors, spices and colors—are blended together in a series of dishes for one delightful meal after another.

Fonts and different languages seen within antique and international recipe books collected throughout the years helped formulate the silhouettes and color palettes for the collection, while classic table linens such as plaid and gingham are patterns seen throughout key pieces.
